Vessy's Story

Vessy Mink is a Chicago-born singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, arranger, and producer whose life and music weave a tapestry of raw emotion, cultural fusion, and unyielding creativity.

Rooted in a multi-ethnic heritage, her beginnings were born of Bulgarian children’s songs sung together with her father     at a very young age, and lullabies her father and grandmother sang to her when she was a baby, along with family Christmases always revolving around the beautiful holy and happy songs of the season, with her whole family singing in joyful harmony. https://youtube.com/channel/UCu8FTyyTMVPrnJLbrHXoKww?si=2coHZIfEQwbUgxJ0

Vessy's journey began in the vibrant basements and stages of her hometown, where she first harmonized as a background vocalist and tambourine player in her sister Antje's band, Just Blame Eve who launched their first and only album at Chicago's own Woman Made Gallery, co-founded by their mother Beate Minkovski in 1992: Woman Made Gallery – Ensuring the equal placement of women's art in the world. This early spark ignited a passion that would span over two decades, transforming personal stories into anthems that resonate across genres from folk-punk grit and soulful rock to orchestral swells, electronic experiments, and tender acoustic lullabies.

A serendipitous ad in the Chicago Reader caught her eye, leading her to audition for Siren, the innovative music project by Jon and Missy Butcher: Jon & Missy Butcher | Causes That Matter – Companies That Do Good. with open calls echoing across the globe. This pivotal moment unfurled her wings, granting the courage to soar to Los Angeles, a city she'd never known where she met her first music manager, the visionary artist Diane LaBuda: Bio — LaBuda     Under LaBuda's executive production, Vessy crafted her debut LA demo, brought to life by legendary music luminaries drummer Matt Sorum : Matt Sorum – Kings of Chaos, Guns N Roses, Velvet Revolver, The Cult and guitarist Lanny Cordola: MLK Miraculous Love Kids - Miraculous Love Kids

It was in 1998, Vessy ventured to Los Angeles, a city of dreams and reinvention, where she swiftly secured her first sync license for the feature film *In a Class of His Own*. By 2001, fronting her band The Lovesick Lunatics, she released the album *Black Car*, with the track "Hollywood Hang Me" earning a coveted spot in a Fox promo for the hit tv show, The Gilmore Girls, thanks to Fox network producer, Mr. Steve Silverman: Home - World Gone Good podcast

Her catalog, now boasting over 1,000 original compositions, has graced commercials (including Bud Light campaigns), documentaries, web series, and films, proving her prowess as a sync licensing powerhouse. Vessy's voice and vision extended beyond music; she appeared in national spots for Apple and AT&T, and immersed herself in the LA Film Cooperative, fostering unity through collaborative art & filmmaking.

The stage became her sanctuary, with improvisational performances alongside the a cappella trio The Smiling Minks with the incomparable Suzy Williams & Moira Smiley: https://www.laughtears.com Moira Smiley Home Page - Official - moira smiley and weekly residencies at iconic venues like The Cow's End in Marina del Rey and the Viper Room on Sunset Strip. Often inviting guest musicians to join the fray, these shows pulsed with spontaneous energy.

Vessy's adventurous spirit led her to the dust swept expanses of Burning Man in 2004 and 2005, where her music echoed amid the flames of transformation with the likes of The LA Film Cooperative in full effect: https://youtu.be/6GpQqxFlM0g?si=asnAnBmJ2Cc4Un43

A month-long residency in Avoriaz, France, followed and never would have happened (if not for Vessy's dear friend Venice Beach painter Brett Woods: Brett Woods - Art & Film ) assembled via Craigslist serendipity, culminating in nightly gigs at Le Cabané restaurant. From there, a train ride to Sofia, Bulgaria, reconnected her with her grandmother Veselina her namesake & Godmother who whispered ancient Bulgarian lullabies into her infant ears, planting seeds that would later bloom in her work. Here is a link to an nft of an old tape cassette recording from the 1970's where you can hear Maminka Veselina singing with her dear son, Michael Minkovski (Vessy's father):

London called next, where Vessy recorded her second full length album at Fortress Studios in Hackney, blending fresh talents curated by manager, rock guitarist Ralph Cavallaro: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/that-record-got-me-high-podcast/id1369133152?i=1000727639713 She also released the live album *Vessy Mink Live at the Mint*, produced by Cavallaro. Returning to LA, she continued to thrive, but love and fate drew her back to Chicago in 2008. There, she married her fiancé (met, fittingly, on Craigslist), and together they built a family of four children in the northwest suburbs and started a punk rock band together called: THM NME.

In the summer of 2019 THM NME wrote and produced 19 original tracks in their home studio, self releasing "5X5" "FIGHT" "DOMESTIC" & "LET'S GO." Here is the NFT of the collection of songs, serving as the very first digital artifact that Vessy learned to mint on the Blockchain. Only 200 editions currently exist: https://opensea.io/item/polygon/0x2953399124f0cbb46d2cbacd8a89cf0599974963/24501658541484365842666340309842872740969968426638423415649073406879608078536

Launching their company, MINKHILL Productions was certainly timely and the duo has collaborated with many different artists over the years because of their skill set offering studio production from start to finish along with their Indie label Trugnalaya Music as a launch pad for new artists seeking to land on the proverbial music map while also guiding aspiring music makers every step of the way.

A devoted children's music artist, Vessy taught in the beloved Wiggleworms program at Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music, crafting "gift songs" in fleeting moments to help young ones navigate life's hurdles like the first day of school. This nurturing ethos extended to her role as the Musical Director for FunkyiPuppets on the Clubhouse app, a collective dedicated to M.A.T.S.U. (Making Art Together Supporting Universal Unity), where art becomes a bridge for connection.  Her voice-over character Vibrato channeled the greats, with songs and scenes written & inspired by visionary artist poet and founder I Paint Creatures. https://youtube.com/@ipaintcreatures?si=hqXJgXEgSdUHJdHd

In 2019, she co-founded the Arinova Rhythm Collective (ARC), a Chicago-based musical group and label epitomizing the modern SOULFLOW movement through collaborative soul, rhythm, and genre-blending projects with artists like Saxophonist, Roger Ebner: EBNR | Roger Ebner and Singer/Songwriter & producer, Chrys Anthem-Wozniak, who sadly passed away leaving a legacy of songs behind like "Rocket Ship" for which just days before his death he pushed Vessy to sing the lead vocals on. The song is titled: "Rocket Ship." Music | Arinova Rhythm Collective

Today, Vessy continues to innovate, honed by Cathy Heller's 6-Figure Songwriting course through Catch the Moon Music, deepening her sync expertise. She has also started collaborating with LA-based guitarist, singer-songwriter Morris Mills, founder of Strawberry Hill Records, with some new releases underway.          She wrote & co-produced 100 songs for The Web 3 Dictionary with (@ArtTeaswap on X), Vancouver entrepreneur Min Kuang.  https://newbie-bitcoin.mn.co/                                                                         In a harmonious convergence of inspiration and collaboration, Vessy produced the Universal Music Anthem (UMA), a global ode to unity through sound. The story began when composer James Zahar shared his original vision with Vessy Mink via X platform's DM's entrusting Vessy to reimagine the composition and serve as the singer/songwriter, production manager & producer, infusing it with lyrics co-crafted alongside esteemed producer, Charles White of Rough Lake Music. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1DhKhytGwQ/?mibextid=wwXIfr

A stellar ensemble was assembled born of The Universal Music Song Contest on X looking for the best of the best to land lead & supporting vocals on a remix of the newly produced original composition, featuring the astounding cello work of concert cellist, Thor Sigurdson. https://thorsigurdson.com/home

The contest was hosted Live on X: https://x.com/vessymink/status/1887288794681901301?s=46 with the judging panel awarding the lead vocals to the incomparable Filipina singer, YSA with beautiful supporting background vocals by UK artists, Joe Nix( & Ash Nix of HEARTISTRY (@Heartistryxyz on X) & vibrant chrous vocals by epic Canadian singer songwriter, Danger Devin (@DangerDevin on X.)

Released as a remix and celebrated through live performances & duets at events like the Celebration of Awakening in 2025 (buddhistsandiego.com)   even NFT digital artifacts, the anthem echoes unified belief in music's power to transcend borders, available on platforms like Apple Music and inspiring translations and performances worldwide.

Vessy Mink wrote the theme song for "Who Are The Lads?"  with Shiba Sequoia Forest founder Andrew Prater. (https://shibasequoiaforest.com/)  She performed the song live at Shiba Fest in the summer of 2025 in Muskegon, Michigan, where all musicians who performed live planted a Sequoia Dendron Gigantium tree cloned by Arc Angel. Vessy wrote and produced the music for the lyrical poem written by robotics engineer Dr. Scott Walter "DO TESLAS DREAM?" and the duo got the chance to perform the song together during the TESLA TAKEOVER in Muskegon Michigan in the late summer of 2024. Celebrated Russian artist Evgenia Baburina: https://linktr.ee/ebabur invited Vessy to co-write/produce a beautiful song that she wrote called "Sand Castles." When multi-platinum music producer & pianist Songs of Eden: https://youtube.com/@songsofedenmusic?si=0p1XqzdP-R4X-PtN jumped on board, the song took flight and can be found on all streaming networks.
